About This Business
The crane we own is a Kato 13 tonne City Crane, and on the bigger jobs we regularly bring in cranes of up to 130 tonnes. It is what lets us take out trees too hazardous for conventional roping techniques, lift a fallen tree off a structure whatever its size or position, and reach into a back yard from the street when there is no other way in. A&A Arbor Tree Service has been part of the tree industry for over 30 years.
Bringing a crane in usually takes the price down. The job is quicker, fewer hours go on site, heavy equipment gets placed where it could otherwise never fit, and several trees can come out in a single visit. We work out of Thornleigh across northern Sydney, for homeowners and for real estate, strata, aged care, schools and golf courses.
Glen and Paul Dwyer have owned the business since 2002 and share more than fifty years of experience between them. Glen is an AQF Level 5 arborist, sits on the Executive Committee of the Tree Contractors Association of Australia, and trained in London. Paul is an AQF Level 3 arborist and our Senior Site Manager, responsible for checking the standard of every job. Their father Bob looks after occupational health and safety, bringing thirty years in the defence industry to how equipment gets handled on our sites. Our crew hold Certificate III in Arboriculture along with high voltage training, machinery operations, crane licences, aerial rescue training, EWP licences, senior first aid and traffic control, and a director or a qualified team leader is on site for every job.
Tree removal is not automatically where we start. We understand both the physics and the botany behind a tree, and the relationship it has with everything growing around it, so we will look at the possibilities and tell you honestly whether it has to come out. Where a tree can stay, tree maintenance and pruning keep it safe and in shape, and stump grinding follows a removal so you are not left working around what is still in the ground.
Severe weather hits Sydney every year and trees and branches come down with it, though heavy wind and rain are not the only causes. Heat related stress, saturated soils and loose ground, cavities, split branch unions and trees that were incorrectly lopped years ago all raise the odds. Our 24/7 emergency support means you can reach us at any hour of the day or night, we remove and secure the trees and debris on site, and we will help you with advice on making a claim through your home and contents insurance. On the large and complex removal at Asquith for NBN Co, Glen worked with the client the whole way through and the job finished ahead of schedule.
