Absolute Tree Care

Absolute Tree Care is a Phillip Island arborist run by Sam Gregory, a qualified arborist with 15 years in the tree care industry. Working out of Cowes, it is a straightforward owner-operator setup where the person quoting the job is the person doing it, which tends to keep both the price and the communication honest.

The main services are tree removal, tree pruning and stump removal, covering the tree jobs a Phillip Island property throws up: taking out a dead or dangerous tree, shaping an overgrown one back into line, or grinding out a stump that has been in the way for years. Pruning is done with the health and structure of the tree in mind, not just a quick tidy, so a tree is set up to grow well rather than simply cut back.

What backs it up is proper gear for the size of the work. Sam runs a 15 inch wood chipper and a 2.5 tonne excavator fitted with a log grab, which means bigger timber can be lifted, shifted and processed on site rather than dragged out by hand. For a smaller operator it punches above its weight on the trickier removals, and it makes for a tidier, quicker job with less disruption to the rest of the garden.

Green waste does not just get carted off either. Mulching of green waste turns the branches and offcuts from a job into mulch, so the material can go back onto garden beds instead of to landfill, and the site is left clean once the work is finished. It is a practical, no-fuss way of working that suits both permanent residents and the island's many holiday-home owners.

The business covers Phillip Island and Cowes along with the wider Bass Coast, including Inverloch and Wonthaggi. It works weekdays and Saturday mornings, with Sundays by appointment, which gives weekenders and holiday-home owners a chance to get a tree sorted while they are down on the coast.
