Peter Jones has been taking trees down around Bathurst for more than 20 years, and Accurate Tree Service still runs out of Mount Rankin Road on the northern edge of town. We're locally owned and operated, and the crew Peter has built around him handles everything from one tired gum in a back yard to a commercial site that needs a whole line of trees dealt with in a single visit. Two decades in the one district means that when you describe your tree to us over the phone, there's a fair chance we've already worked on one just like it a few streets away.

The work takes us a long way past the Bathurst city limits. We're out at Orange, Lithgow and Oberon and through the smaller districts in between, right across the Central West. Out this way a tree usually comes to our attention for one of a few reasons: it's been knocked about by a storm or a lightning strike, it's diseased or infested past the point of saving, or it has simply outgrown where somebody planted it and the roots and branches are now into something that matters.

The ones to ring us about early are the trees in restricted locations, where there's no clear ground to drop anything into. A tree hard against the house, leaning over a shed, wedged between a fence and the driveway: none of that comes down in one piece. Before a saw goes anywhere near it we look over the condition of the tree, work out where the weight actually sits and what might let go while we're up in it, then set a plan for the order the pieces come out in. From there it's industry standard rigging and equipment and a crew of trained arborists, and the tree leaves your property in sections with the lawn still intact. We take on tree removal at any size on that basis, and when the trunk is gone we finish with stump grinding below ground level so you can mow, turf or plant straight over the top. The limbs and the scrub go through the chipper on site, so what you're left with is the space, not a pile of green waste on the nature strip.

Not every tree we look at has to come out. Tree pruning and shaping will take weight out of a canopy or lift it clear of a roofline and buy a good tree years, on a tree worth saving we'll do the careful tree surgery that keeps it standing, and our pest and disease treatments go after whatever is making the tree sick in the first place.
