About This Business
Termites usually eat from the inside of a tree, which is how one can look completely healthy from the footpath and be hollow through the middle. Trees got at that way can become so unstable they pose a serious danger to whatever is standing underneath them. A termite inspection report confirms whether they are in there and checks the structural stability of the trunk, and on a large tree near the house that is worth knowing before the wet arrives.
We traded as Darwin Ace Services before the name changed to Ace Arbor Services, and there is over 30 years in the tree industry behind the business. It is locally owned and operated, it is insured, and the staff are trained in all aspects of tree and personal safety. Our work goes to the general public, to private and public schools and to various government agencies, and it has taken us through Nightcliff, Brinkin, Leanyer and Wanguri, where the primary school has had us carrying out audits and associated tree works for well over 15 years. Most of the private work still comes through word of mouth.
Our arborists take on tree pruning and shaping to Australian Standards right through to full tree removal, and palm pruning and removal is the same story, whether it is a royal that has outgrown the yard or an old coconut that has to come down. On one job at Leanyer a 25 metre royal went past the kitchen window and into the chipper while the coffee was being made, and the old coconut out the back came down to ground level in the same visit. We own and operate our own cranes and cherry pickers, which is how the pricing stays competitive on that kind of work.
Once a tree is gone, stump grinding takes out the stump and the above ground roots, making the area safe and free for other uses. There is often a requirement for landscaping and remedial work behind a removal, and we handle that as well. When you need something in writing about a tree, there is a qualified arborist on staff for tree safety reports.
Very little of what comes off a job goes to waste. Most tree and plant waste that is free of weeds gets recycled and sold on as mulch, in three grades: mahogany woodchip when it is available, forest mulch either aged or fresh, and a soil improver jungle mulch, with delivery available. Large logs, mahogany especially, are kept back and sawn into timber slabs in various sizes, which people buy for home renovations and their own projects. Every job is left clean and tidy. Quotes are free and carry no obligation, so ring and tell us what the tree is doing.
