ACE Tree Management

Eight metres to sixty metres is the spread of travel towers we own, and that reach is why a job another crew has to knock back is a normal Tuesday for us. ACE Tree Management runs its own fleet from a depot at Kilsyth: travel towers at 8, 12, 18, 24, 30, 40, 50 and 60 metres, under bridge units at 5, 7 and 15 metres, crane trucks, all terrain cranes, boom lifts and spyder lifts for ground you would never get a truck onto. Every machine we hire out goes with a qualified operator on it.

Behind the towers sits the gear that deals with what comes down: hoggers and chippers, mulching machines from six to eighteen inches, stump grinding machines, a wood splitter, a flail mower, excavators, skid steers and mini loaders, with tip trucks, hook bin trucks and skip bins so the debris leaves when we do. All of it travels across metropolitan Melbourne and out through the Dandenong Ranges and the Yarra Valley, taking in Olinda, Sassafras, Belgrave, Monbulk, Emerald, Healesville, Lilydale, Croydon, Ringwood, Ferntree Gully, Warrandyte, Eltham, Yea and Kinglake.

Fifty years of this started on hazard trees and vegetation clearing for the old State Electricity Commission of Victoria, working the lines through the outer east and the Shire of Yarra Ranges. That is still the work we are built for. We are pre-qualified for VicRoads, we service SP AusNet alongside the relevant shires and hire plant to them as well, and we have handled street tree clearance for Knox City Council, dangerous tree removal for the Shire of Yarra Ranges, and jobs for Parks Victoria, Melbourne Water and the Melbourne Metropolitan Board of Works. A tree standing over a live line or a highway is a different problem to a tree in a back garden, and it is the one we cut our teeth on.

The everyday work runs beside all of that. We take on tree removal and tree stump removal, tree pruning and shaping, and tree weight reduction where a limb has grown out too far and needs bringing back in before it tears out of the trunk. There are more than fifty of us, arborists and office staff, we carry twenty million dollars of public liability cover, and we hold certification to AS/NZS 9001, AS/NZS 4801 and ISO 14001. Across those fifty years we have managed more than a million trees for over fifty thousand customers.
