About This Business

Matthew and Anna Pittard started Addicted to Gardens in Bowral in 2016, and it is still theirs. Fifteen years of experience sits behind the work, the team is certified and fully insured, and the High Risk Work Licence is held under number HRW850450. What has not shifted since the beginning is where we start on a job: with the tree, not the invoice.

The work covers residential and commercial properties right across the Southern Highlands, taking in Bowral, Mittagong, Moss Vale and Berrima, from established heritage gardens through to rural blocks and new developments. Years of working inside Wingecarribee Shire Council regulations means the compliance end is handled without you having to chase it, which counts for a great deal on heritage specimens and native species.

Preservation is the priority here, and it is an unusual thing to lead with in this trade. Before we decide anything we carry out a comprehensive evaluation of the tree, and often the answer turns out to be trimming rather than a removal. When we do prune, the technique matters: we avoid straight-line cuts, which promotes proper regrowth and heads off other problems later, and we shape a tree with its structure, its form and the seasonal light all in mind. Tree pruning done that way takes in deadwood removal to clear the safety risks, structural pruning for stronger growth, and crown lifting for vehicle and pedestrian clearance.

Where a tree genuinely does have to come out, we use sectional dismantling and equipment like spider lifts to keep the impact on your property down, and we take the stump and roots with it. Stump grinding clears what is left so you have a blank canvas to landscape over. All the debris is recycled into mulch and woodchip that goes back into the garden, feeding the soil, helping new planting along and keeping the weeds down. There is hedge trimming and ongoing maintenance alongside that, and on a larger property we will put together a long term management plan so the work is spread sensibly across the years.

Emergency tree services run twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Storm damage, a branch down across the drive, a tree that has turned hazardous overnight: ring at any hour and we will get out and make the place safe. Frosty winters and summer storms both take a toll up here, and the gums, English oaks, elms and ornamental maples around Bowral each respond to it differently, which is the sort of thing local knowledge is actually for. Quotes are free and competitive, we take card, direct bank transfer or cash, and a phone call is all it takes to get us out to look at your trees.
