After the Sampson Flat, Cudlee Creek and Kangaroo Island fires, we mapped the fire scars using TreePlotter and project managed the bushfire debris clean up for Adelaide Hills Council, the Department of Environment and Water and Green Industries SA. Adelaide Arb Consultants does the assessing, the mapping and the planning that happens before anyone touches a tree, and we have been doing it for councils, developers and private owners across South Australia since 2014.

The company was established in 2014 and is run by Senior Arborist and Director Shane Selway, who holds an MSc in Arboriculture and Urban Forestry, a Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture, a Diploma of Arboriculture and ISA Certified Arborist registration (AU0270A). Michael Palamountain works alongside him as a Senior Consulting Arborist with a Bachelor of Science, a Diploma of Horticulture in Arboriculture and ISA certification (AU007A), and Dr Tate Hancox brings a Diploma of Arboriculture, a Bachelor of Science (Advanced) in botany and soil science, and a PhD in plant science.

We handle tree health, structure and condition assessments, tree risk assessments and on-site consultations, and we write the arboricultural management advice that councils and developers need in order to make a decision. Where a road, a subdivision or a large infrastructure build runs up against established trees, we prepare the tree protection planning that keeps them standing through construction. Tree mapping and safety data logging give an owner a running record of a whole population rather than a snapshot of one specimen.

We do not carry out the pruning or the removals ourselves, which is deliberate. It means the recommendation you get has nothing riding on it, and when work does need doing we will point you towards contracting companies we know are trained to do it properly.

Our clients include local councils, schools, developers and private owners across Adelaide and South Australia, among them Adelaide Hills Council, the City of Burnside, the City of Holdfast Bay, the City of Onkaparinga, the City of Mitcham and the City of Salisbury. Bushfire recovery, urban forestry and environmental planning all sit within that work.

The office is in Kent Town, a few minutes east of the city, and consultations happen on site where the tree is.
