We have been doing this since 1990, and there are more than 35 of us now, all local. Adelaide Hills Tree & Stump works out of Mount Barker, and between arboriculture, vegetation management and traffic control we get around a fair bit of South Australia. Mark Simister is our director.

If a tree has come down on you at two in the morning, there is a number that rings straight through. Our 24 hour storm response line is separate from the office for exactly that reason, and we are contactable around the clock.

On the tree services side we take on tree removals and specialist pruning, including the awkward ones. A tree that is dead or on its way out, one the wind has already half taken, or something sitting over power lines. Stump grinding goes with the removals, so you are not left with something to mow around afterwards. Complex removals get the advanced gear and the techniques that go with them.

We also have certified arborists for arborist consulting, which is where you go when the question of whether a tree stays or comes out needs answering in writing. Our arboriculture work carries a Level 2 Quality Certification, we are on the Department for Infrastructure and Transport contractor panel, and we are fully insured.

Vegetation clearance is work we do for councils, state government, builders, civil contractors and homeowners alike. That takes in block clearing, slashing and weed and pest plant control, and slashing in particular keeps overgrown ground from becoming a fire problem, blocking sightlines or shutting off access. We bring the right plant for the size of the job.

Since a lot of that happens on live roads, we run our own traffic control rather than sub it out, with truck mounted attenuators and our own signage, and we hire out tippers as well. There is tree planting, roadside maintenance, small earthworks, bushfire prevention and gutter cleaning too, and we sell firewood and mulch.
