About This Business
Back in 2008 there were three of us. Arbor Guy now runs with more than thirty full time staff and a fleet of over fifty on and off road machines, checked daily by the crews and serviced weekly by our own in house mechanic. Managing Director Guy Badger still heads out with a team each year to Foresters Wood Farm, a community arboretum where we donate the time, the machinery and the resources, and since 2017 we have put more than thirty possum boxes into trees around the Capes region with GeoCatch so the western ringtail has somewhere to live. Those are the numbers we would rather be judged on than any adjective.
Tree maintenance and removals sit alongside stump grinding and green waste mulching, and because we carry our own traffic management capability and work to the Code of Practice for Vegetation Worker Electrical Safety, a job on a roadside or near live conductors does not have to be split between three separate contractors. Pruning is done to AS 4373-2007. Where a block is being built on, we work to AS 4970-2009 so the tree protection holds up when the council asks to see it. Fire mitigation and utilities maintenance programmes run off the same crews and the same standards.
Councils and developers also come to us for the paperwork. Our tree consultancy and auditing work puts a qualified arborist on the ground and produces the report to go with it, and GPS survey and GIS mapping ties what we find to coordinates or straight line kilometre references, so you get the data and not just an opinion. That feeds into longer term urban forestry management for councils, alongside weed control and project management on the bigger contracts. Between the team there is a Diploma in Arboriculture, a Cert IV in Land Management and a stack of machinery tickets, and every job is scheduled through cloud based software with live fleet tracking, so you can be told where the crew actually is.
Across the South West we work for the City of Busselton, the City of Bunbury, the Shire of Augusta Margaret River, the Shire of Capel and the Shire of Nannup, along with Main Roads WA, Water Corporation, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, Parks and Wildlife Service and the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions. We are a WALGA Preferred Supplier, a General Member of Arboriculture Australia and a Professional Member of ArbWest, and our environmental work was recognised at the 2020 South West Business Excellence Awards.
When a storm goes through, our 24/7 emergency and disaster response crews clear fallen trees and debris, take down what has become dangerous and brace what can be saved, with the evidence recorded properly for insurance and Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements claims. We hold ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 certification, we are registered as a Pest Management Business, and we carry fifty million dollars in public liability, fifty million in workers compensation and four million in indemnity cover. Give us a ring on 0499 554 369 and we will come out and have a look at it.
