The urban forest is not somebody else's asset. It is the street you drive down, the shade over the car park, and the canopy a development will either keep or lose, and it is what Arbor Urban exists to look after. We are an arboricultural consultancy based at Malaga, working with developers, government and property owners across Perth on the ethical management of their trees. We are QTRA certified, members of Arboriculture Australia, and a WALGA Preferred Supplier.

We put on the seminars we would want to attend ourselves. Amongst the Trees is our series, and it brought Professor Francesco Ferrini of the University of Florence to Perth in July 2026 for a two day workshop, his first time presenting here, covering tree selection, soil and root systems, urban arboriculture and forestry, biodiversity, ecosystem services and the part trees play in a city that can cope with a changing climate. Professor Linda Chalker-Scott of Washington State University follows on 10 and 11 September 2026 with two days on soil health, mulches, fertiliser applications, plant selection, pruning technique and tree health assessment. Both are open to arborists, horticulturists, urban foresters, planners and anyone working in environmental management, and the research that comes out of them is what we then apply on your site.

For a tree you are unsure about, tree inspections and arboricultural reports set out what is actually going on with it. Tree risk assessments and analysis take that further and put the risk into terms you can act on, and across a whole site, a street or a suburb, an urban forest audit or a tree survey does the same job at scale. Our arborists work up an answer for each tree and each situation, which is why none of it reads like a template.

Where a development is involved we give trees and development recommendations and guidance, and handle tree asset retention and protection so the trees worth keeping are still standing when the fencing comes down. On the bigger jobs one of us will sit on site as project arborist and give specialist advice while the work runs. Tree root investigation, mitigation and barrier installation deals with roots that have gone somewhere nobody wanted them.

On the growing side we run tree planting and watering programs, formative pruning and tree management, and pest and disease treatments with nutrient applications, and we carry out PSHB identification. Past the single tree there is city greening, urban rewilding and biodiversity work.
