About This Business

Two yards, one at Currumbin Waters in Queensland and the other at Chinderah in New South Wales, mean Arborcare can be on either side of the border without making a day of it. We are a locally owned and operated business working the southern Gold Coast and the Tweed Shire, and our primary climber and qualified arborist has ten years in arboriculture behind him, gained with a range of companies across Queensland, New South Wales and the Northern Territory. Working with him is a team of groundsmen who climb as well, with extensive experience in rigging and rope work.

Our advice is given in accordance with Australian Standard 4373-2007 Pruning of Amenity Trees, and that shapes what we recommend to you. Tree trimming belongs in your regular garden maintenance, because it is the best way to keep a tree healthy and to cut the risk of injury to people or animals and damage to property, and it takes in canopy lifting, weight reduction, canopy thinning and pruning to open up a view. Then there is dead wooding, which removes the dead and dying branches so the tree can put its resources somewhere useful and so those limbs are not coming down in the first moderate wind. Where lopping is asked for, we will point out the better alternative for the health of the tree whenever there is one.

Palms need their own handling. Palm cleaning takes the dead and dying lower fronds off before they fall somewhere you would rather they did not, and lifts the canopy so the palm looks tidy and the view stays open. Where a palm keeps dropping fronds and setting fruit and seed, or is a species such as the Cocos Palm that gets treated as a weed, palm removal is the sensible answer. Taking a tree down is genuinely dangerous work that belongs with people who have the knowledge, the experience and the right equipment, so our tree removal is followed by stump grinding to stop regrowth, deter decay and termites, clear the trip hazard and free the ground up for a fence, a shed or a garden bed.

There is more to a tidy block than the trees on it. Our garden clean ups thin out golden cane and bamboo, pull back shrub overgrowth and chip the green waste on site, and our forest mulch is freshly chipped timber that covers a garden, holds water and feeds the soil as it breaks down. Every job runs under a full Safety Management System, with a job safety analysis and a risk assessment completed before we start, and all our senior staff hold current First Aid certification.

Wildlife comes first on our sites. Our qualified fauna spotter holds a Bachelor of Biological Sciences and a Master of Environmental Science, inspects every tree before work starts, and has the skills to relocate any birds, mammals or reptiles found living in it. From you, that means a returned call, a quote we turn up for when we said we would, an on time arrival on the day, the work done as quoted with no hidden surprises, and impeccable site clean up when we leave. Ring Arborcare for a prompt, fair and honest quote anywhere across the southern Gold Coast and Tweed Shire.
