Arborcare Tree Maintenance is a family owned tree company based in Dapto that has been removing, lopping and clearing trees across the Illawarra since 2000. The team is made up of qualified arborists including AQF3 and AQF5 holders, they carry the Australian Arborist Industry Licence AL2856, and the work is done to SafeWork NSW standards. The emergency tree service is what they are best known for locally. It is on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and when a damaged tree is threatening a house or blocking access the truck comes out regardless of the hour. Round the clock they will handle tree removal, lopping, pruning, stump grinding and mulching, clearing fallen limbs and trunks to restore safe access, and they work alongside the state emergency services when a job calls for it.

At the other end of the scale sits the AQF5 work: tree assessments and tree risk assessments. That means a visual inspection of leaves, branches and bark for disease, pests and nutrient deficiency, a check for cracks, splits and lean that undermine stability, measurements of trunk diameter, height and canopy spread, and soil testing for quality, drainage and compaction. What comes back is a set of recommendations, whether that is pruning, treatment, or a removal plan for a tree that is past saving, plus a schedule for follow-up inspections.

Tree removals cover the damaged and the unsafe, and palm tree removals are offered as a specialty because palms present problems a hardwood does not. Stump grinding gets the space back and takes away what rotting stumps attract, which is vermin and, in a yard with kids, a tripping hazard. Land clearing is done either selectively or right through, for owners preparing a block for a build or replanting it from scratch.
