Arborcraft Tree Services started in 2011 as a single ute and one operator, Sam, and has since grown into a Melbourne tree services company working for some of the country's largest builders and infrastructure firms. Based at Clayton South, it now counts the likes of Lendlease, Laing O'Rourke, Acciona and Programmed among more than forty major clients. The company set out to lift the standard of what it saw as a fragmented industry, and it treats tree work as a technical discipline rather than a quick clearing job, with safety put at the front of every job.

Tree removal covers the full range, from a single problem tree in a backyard through to large-scale clearing for civil and construction projects. Trees are taken down in a controlled, planned way, with the emphasis on getting the work done safely on sites where machinery, traffic and other trades are often all in play at the same time. Storm clean-ups and make-safe work sit alongside the planned removals when a job cannot wait.

Tree trimming and maintenance keeps established trees healthy and safe, whether that means routine pruning on a residential block or an ongoing maintenance program across a commercial property, school or park. The crews shape and thin canopies, clear branches back off buildings and access ways, and keep an eye on tree health over time rather than only reacting once something has already gone wrong. Because a good deal of the client base is commercial, the crews are used to site inductions, traffic management and tight access without holding up the trades working around them.

The business also provides tree reports and consulting, with arborist assessments for development sites, tree protection plans and the council requirements that a lot of infrastructure work has to satisfy before it can start. For developers and councils this work often shapes what can and cannot be removed on a site long before a chainsaw is started. Its ArborReuse service is less common in the trade: instead of mulching or dumping felled timber, usable logs are milled and put to purposeful use, which fits the sustainability thinking the company builds its work around.
