Arborspec

Accredited with the Queensland Arboricultural Association and working to AS 4373 for pruning and AS 4970 for trees on development sites, Arborspec is a team of qualified, fully insured arborists based at Underwood in Logan. Bryce Kurtzman founded the business. He began his own career in 2007 as a machine operator and went on to work for two of Australia's largest tree care companies, where seeing tree health come second to the removal quote was what pushed him out on his own. He is still our main climbing arborist and works on site with the crew, holds a Certificate III in Arboriculture and TRAQ risk assessment training, and is working through his Diploma of Arboriculture.

Michael Izzard runs our operations and works as project arborist, with a Certificate III going back to 2010, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessing and a Diploma of Arboriculture at AQF 5, and behind the two of them is a site team of arborists and arborists in training. We treat lopping as poor practice and removal as a last resort, kept for trees that pose a real danger in a storm and for environmental weeds listed by local government. If a tree can be retained we will tell you so, and we will explain how we got there.

Every piece of arboricultural consultancy we do starts with an assessment. We use tree risk assessments and tree health assessments to work out what a tree is actually doing and whether keeping it is an option, then set the findings down in arboricultural reports and tree management plans that say how it should be looked after in the years ahead. On developments we act as project arborist and put tree protection in place so the trees you are keeping come through the build.

On the tools, our tree pruning and management is carried out in service of the tree, and where one genuinely cannot be saved we handle the removal of hazardous and weed trees and do it properly. Soil injection improves soil and root zone health where a tree is struggling below ground, and habitat creation and restoration is work we take on by choice. We also look after garden maintenance and ongoing tree maintenance programs, through separate commercial, government and residential divisions so the scale of the job matches who turns up to it.

We work across Logan, North Brisbane, South Brisbane, Redland Bay, Ipswich and the Gold Coast suburbs, and less often into the Sunshine Coast and Northern New South Wales. We work from 6am to 5pm, every day of the week. Book online or give us a call, and we will come and assess the tree.
