About This Business
Getting a crew and the right gear out to a remote community or an island is a different proposition to a job in a Darwin back yard, and we take on both. Remote and offshore works are a standing part of what we do across the Territory, for government, Aboriginal Associations and schools, and we go into those jobs knowing the cultural considerations count for as much as the tree work does.
ArborWork Tree Services is run by Luke Milner, who has more than 18 years in the industry behind him. Our arborists are diploma qualified, we are CAL accredited and members of Arboriculture Australia, and we hold Quantified Tree Risk Assessment along with the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification. Those last two are what let us put a number on how likely a tree is to fail and on what it would hit if it did.
Arborist consultancy covers the reports and the assessments: whether a tree is safe, whether it is worth keeping, and what a development is going to do to it. On the tools, tree pruning splits three ways, into hazard reduction where limbs have become a risk, asset clearance where a canopy has grown into a roof or a power line, and formative work on young trees so they grow into a shape nobody has to correct in ten years.
Tree and palm removal takes out what cannot stay, and stump grinding deals with what is left sitting in the ground afterwards. Up here palm clean up is a job of its own: defronding, defruiting and getting the coconuts down before they come down by themselves. Whatever goes through the chipper can go back out as woodchip delivery if you want a load for the garden.
Habitat creation is the part of the job we like best, putting wildlife boxes up in trees to replace the hollows that get lost when an old tree comes out. At the other end of the scale, emergency tree works and cyclone response run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, for the trees that come down across a road, a roof or a fence line in the middle of a wet season blow.
We are based at Humpty Doo and work Darwin and right across the Northern Territory, taking in Herbert, Knuckey Lagoon and Rosebery, and out to the remote communities and islands. The work runs across commercial, residential and government clients, so it might be one tree in a suburban yard or the whole of a site. Ring us on (08) 8988 3779 and we will come out and assess it.
