About This Business

AQF level 5 consulting arborists, CAL accreditation, membership of Arboriculture Australia, QTRA and the ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualification are what sit behind an ArborWork Tree Services report. Luke Milner directs the business with more than 18 years in arboriculture, and the arborists working with him are diploma qualified. A report we write for a school, a council, a government department or a commercial development sets out the findings, the recommendations and a management strategy, so what you are holding satisfies the regulatory requirement and also tells you what to do about the tree.

Getting a crew and its equipment onto an island or into a remote community is a different job to a Darwin back yard, and remote and offshore works are a standing part of ours. Crew and equipment get tailored to what the site needs, and the clients out that way include government, Aboriginal Associations and schools, where the cultural considerations count for as much as the tree work does. Our base is at Humpty Doo, the day to day runs through Darwin and the rural area around it, and we service commercial, residential and government customers right across the Northern Territory, including remote communities, islands and sensitive areas.

Not everything we do takes something away. Habitat creation puts recycled natural tree hollows or purpose-built boxes back up into the canopy, installed with tree protective methods and equipment so the host tree is not damaged in the fitting. Possums and birds are the ones that move in, and placement decides which species you get, so we will talk that through with you before anything goes up. When an old tree has to come out it takes its hollows with it, and this is how they get put back.

Pruning is four different jobs depending on what the tree needs. There is hazard reduction where limbs have become a risk, asset clearance where a canopy has grown into a building or infrastructure, formative work to shape a young tree, and corrective pruning to restore stability and symmetry where one has gone wrong, and because incorrect pruning causes long term harm the assessment comes before the saw. We handle what cannot stay with tree and palm removal, and stump grinding takes out what is left sitting in the ground. Palms get a visit of their own for palm clean up, with the dead fronds off, the fruit and seed removed and the coconuts down before heavy fruit finds its own way to the ground. What goes through the chipper comes back to you as woodchip delivery if you want a load for the garden.

Emergency tree works run 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, covering storm damage, cyclone response and the insurance work that follows a tree coming down where it should not have. For anything that can wait, ring the office and we will come out and assess the tree properly before anyone puts a price on it.
