About This Business
Rope access is how we reach the trees nothing else can get to. In a difficult part of Launceston's Cataract Gorge there was no putting a machine anywhere near the work, so our climbers went in on ropes and abseiled down to it. That same technique carries the hazardous tree removals on homes and commercial sites, where the access is tight and there's nowhere to stand a truck.
There are three qualified arborists on the tools at Arbscape. Stewart Malone holds a Certificate V in Horticulture and Arboriculture, and Ryan Joyce and Rakesh Dave are both Certificate III qualified. Every one of us is ESI accredited, which is what lets us prune safely around powerlines and tell you what's permitted near them. Growing the standard of tree care for Tasmania's future is what we're actually working towards, and bringing the next arborists through with the qualifications to match is part of that.
Stewart's Certificate V is the reporting qualification, so the arborist reports and tree audits we write are the ones a council, a builder, a body corporate or an insurer will accept. The purpose of one is to put the information in front of you so the decision about the tree is an informed decision.
Our tree pruning takes out the dead, diseased and damaged wood and holds the shape, health and appearance of the tree where they should be, and on heritage and historic trees that becomes slow, considered work. Where a tree is worth keeping but has been weakened by structural damage, disease or pests, cobra bracing supports it while still allowing movement within the canopy, so the tree goes on behaving like a tree while it recovers.
Habitat creation is one part of the work you won't find on many arborists' lists. We carve artificial hollows into trunks and branches, mimicking the natural process, targeted at Northern Tasmania's endemic birds and other native wildlife, and they count for most in urban areas where the old hollow-bearing trees have already gone. Tree transplanting moves a tree that needs to be somewhere else, with the damage minimised and the long recovery planned for. Pest and disease management runs as an identify, treat and prevent program with ongoing monitoring, and tree planting covers choosing the species and the spot right through to the follow up care.
We work across Northern Tasmania, out of Launceston and through the surrounding districts, on residential, commercial and council jobs alike. Ring or email about the tree that's worrying you and we'll come and have a proper look at it. Where you need the answer in writing, you'll get a report that stands up to whoever is asking for it.
