Asset Tree Care

A large coastal pepper tree with a branch getting close to a fence and a shed, and neighbours who loved that tree as much as the owners did. Special straps and a rod through the base held it, and the tree stayed where it was. That is the first question we put on any job: can this one be kept? Asset Tree Care is run by Hamish Clapham, a Certificate V arborist at AQF Level 5 who still climbs, and who started the company after years working alongside some of Mandurah's best arborists. We are not tree loppers, and that is a deliberate distinction rather than a turn of phrase. Lopping is an old and aggressive way of cutting a tree, and what grows back is epicormic shoots, poorly attached to the outer layer of the branch, fast growing and dangerous for exactly that reason. Every arborist here is trained in correct technique and works to Australian Standard AS 4373-2007, so tree pruning means the deadwood out, the canopy shaped, the airflow improved, and a plan matched to the species standing in front of us.

Our arborist reports are prepared to AS 4970-2025 for the protection of trees on development sites as well as AS 4373-2007, and they take in the formal assessment a council wants attached to an application, regulated tree reports, practical tree risk management, and development and planning support where a tree has to be kept and built around. The recommendations are independent and evidence based, worked out from the conditions on that particular site.

On the tools that means tree removal, from a small ornamental through to a large gum near powerlines, using modern climbing and rigging equipment with crane assistance where the tree calls for it. Palms that have gone shabby and started dropping mess through a garden get our palm tree services, and whatever is left afterwards goes out with the stump grinding, including stumps in tight access spots, so nobody is mowing around one for years. Roots into paving, pipes and footings come under tree root management, whole blocks under land clearing, and the chip either stays with you or goes out through mulch sales and delivery. Worth asking about habitat creation too, before a dead tree gets written off entirely.
