Australian Arboricultural Operations

Owning our own elevated work platform changes what we can take on. Australian Arboricultural Operations is the owner and operator of a Monitor Lift Platform Basket spider tower, and when we are not on it ourselves it goes out on wet hire to anyone else with a working at heights job in front of them. Mitch Seaward founded the business, there are 10 years in the tree industry behind it, and it is locally owned and run.

Our arborists are Australian certified at AQF Level 3 and our project arborists at AQF Level 5. We carry product and public liability cover up to $20 million and professional indemnity up to $5 million. We are current members of the Queensland Arboricultural Association, an approved QAA contractor and consultant, and members of the International Society of Arboriculture, and we keep those memberships for the ongoing development and training that come with them.

Project arborist reports start with a site meeting. We come out, walk the job with you and gather the tree and site data the report needs, which takes a minimum of two hours before a word of it gets written. From there we can run the onsite consultation that works out what tree protection measures and maintenance are required under AS 4970-2009 Protection of Trees on Development Sites, then stay on for onsite supervision through the works so those measures are actually in place when they matter. Tree risk assessments, health and condition assessments and tree site inspections sit alongside all of that.

On the maintenance side, our AQF Level 3 arborists handle pruning and tree removals, with the pruning done to AS 4373-2007 Pruning of Amenity Trees. Beyond that we take on tree planting, stump grinding, garden mulching, weed management, mulch sales and excavator hire. It runs from a single residential job through to large-scale commercial projects, and we work for homeowners, businesses, government organisations and local councils alike.

Our emergency line runs 24 hours a day, seven days a week for storm damage tree work. We cover Brisbane, Ipswich, Logan, Beaudesert, the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast and Toowoomba, and down into northern New South Wales through Tweed Heads, Kingscliff, Byron Bay, Pottsville, Lennox Head, Lismore and Ballina. We travel interstate for the jobs that warrant it. The office is open 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 5pm on Saturday, with Sunday on request.
