Bay Tree Services

Bay Tree Services has been going since 2002, working out of Carrum Downs across south east Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. Every arborist on the crew holds at least an AQF Certificate III in Arboriculture, with Certificate V arborists in house for consultancy and report work. The business is certified to ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 45001 for workplace safety and ISO 14001 for environmental management, which is uncommon for a tree company and tells you what sort of client they are set up to work for.

Tree removal and tree pruning are the day to day work, with stump grinding to finish. Land clearing is the larger scale version, for blocks heading to development or properties being taken back after a few years of neglect. Tree planting is on the list as well, which fewer tree companies offer than you would expect, given they are the ones who know what will actually survive in a given spot.

Emergency tree works runs on its own line and covers storm damage: make safe work first, then hazard assessment and a full site clean up. They will organise around electrical shutdowns and traffic management, which is usually the part that holds everything up once a tree has come down across a road or into the lines.

Arborist reports are written by the in house Certificate V arborists for council permits, development applications and disputes. Commercial tree services is a distinct arm, and the ISO certifications earn their keep there: councils, builders and facilities managers generally have to see the paperwork before a contractor gets through the gate. Their stated position on sustainability is a circular economy one, with material recycled at one end and tree planting at the other.

Coverage runs along the bay through Brighton, Elwood, St Kilda, Hampton, Cheltenham, Mentone and Mordialloc, inland to Malvern, Camberwell, Burwood, Oakleigh, Springvale, Dandenong, Noble Park and Keysborough, and south east through Carrum, Seaford, Frankston, Langwarrin, Cranbourne, Narre Warren and Hallam. The Mornington Peninsula is on the list too, down as far as Mount Eliza and Balnarring.
