Michael Blythe is a qualified arborist who has worked more than 20 years in tree care, and B&B Tree Services is his. We run as a mobile tree service out of Bacchus Marsh, west of Melbourne, which puts the western suburbs on one side of us and regional Victoria on the other. Every job site is left clean and tidy when we drive out of it.

The travelling is the point. We work Bacchus Marsh itself, out through Ballarat and Creswick, down to Geelong and Lara, and back in through Werribee, Hoppers Crossing, Williamstown, Essendon and Ascot Vale, along with the rest of Melbourne's western suburbs and regional Victoria more broadly.

The arborist training shows most in the pruning, because that is four different jobs and not one. Crown canopy thinning opens a dense canopy so wind and light can move through it, while crown canopy lifting raises the lower limbs clear of a roof, a fence or a driveway. We take the deadwood out under dead wooding before it comes down by itself, and formative pruning sets a young tree up with sensible structure while the cuts it needs are still small ones.

Tree removal handles the trees that genuinely have to go, and storm damaged trees get a section of their own because they need a different kind of response. Our 24 hour emergency storm damage service runs seven days a week, so when a westerly puts a limb across the driveway overnight there is a number that actually answers.

Stumps get dealt with two ways here. Stump grinding and removal is the done for you version. The other is stump grinder hire: if you are comfortable with machinery, take the grinder away and work through them in your own time, which suits a rural block with more than one stump sitting out in the paddock. Green waste comes back out the gate as a product too, with mulch sales listed as a service in its own right.
