Cutting a hollow into a standing tree so a possum or a tawny frogmouth can move in is not the job most people ring an arborist about, and it is the one we would rather be judged on. Habitat creation speeds up something a tree takes a very long time to do on its own. We can do it on a living tree or a dead one, and every case gets weighed on its own terms: where the property sits, what the tree is, what condition it is in, and which local wildlife you are hoping to bring back.

Beneficial Tree Care is James, a qualified arborist with more than fourteen years in the industry, running a small family business out of Lilydale in the Yarra Valley. We are Australian owned and operated and fully insured. The advice you get is straightforward and honest, which sometimes means being told a tree does not need to come out at all, because the aim is to look after both you and the nature already growing on your property.

The rest of the work is what you would expect and then some. Our tree pruning work runs from lifting a crown clear of a roof to thinning it so light gets down into the garden, and where a tree has died back or turned into a hazard we handle the tree removal and follow it with tree stump removal and stump grinding so the ground is clear to plant or pave. Older trees worth keeping get tree bracing through weak unions and heavy limbs. There is also tree planting, so invasive trees can come out and natives go back in, mulching that turns the offcuts into something the garden can use, hedge trimming, and land clearing on larger blocks. If a limb turns dangerous overnight, we will come out on an emergency call out instead of leaving it until Monday.
