Bradsworth Tree Services & Contracting

2004 is when Ryan Bradsworth started in the tree industry. He spent seven years working for commercial and residential companies before putting his own name over a business in 2011, and twenty years on he is still the director and the AQF5 Diploma qualified arborist behind Bradsworth Tree Services & Contracting. Everything the company does is built on the knowledge those years put in front of him.

We are locally owned and work out of East Albury right across the Albury Wodonga region, and the business has grown into one of the larger tree companies operating here. Our insurance certificates are published on the website: WorkCover, public liability and professional indemnity. Our arborists and climbers work to the Australian standards for pruning, which exist to prolong the life expectancy and the health of the tree.

What we have specialised in is getting dangerous trees out of confined spaces. We climb, and where there is no safe way to lower a section by hand we put a crane over it, so crane removals stay in house instead of being handed on to somebody else halfway through a job. Once the tree removal is finished, stump grinding and mulching clear up what is left in the ground and on it.

A tree that is staying gets a different set of jobs. We carry out Australian Standard pruning, deadwooding, crown reductions and hedging, and we fit cable bracing and soft cabling systems where a limb or a union needs holding together. Tree health diagnosis is a separate skill again. We identify and control the pests and diseases that turn up in this region, elm leaf beetle included, and take out mistletoe where it has got a hold. Getting the diagnosis right first is the whole point, because the treatment for a leaf beetle has nothing in common with the treatment for a tree failing at the roots. Our consultancy and reports are written by an AQF5 diploma arborist, so an inspection can go in writing to a council, an insurer or a body corporate that has asked you for one.

The contracting side runs bigger: vegetation management, block clearing and land clearing where a whole site has to be opened up. Government and commercial work sits alongside real estate and strata jobs and ordinary residential work, and where the brief is about putting something back into the ground we handle tree planting and nesting box installation. We also run 24 hour emergency work, so a tree that has come down at two in the morning is still a call worth making.
