In 2004 this was a family business built around one qualified arborist, and it has stayed a family business ever since. Randal earned his arborist qualifications more than twenty years ago and still leads every job on the ground, with his son Connor working alongside him and Connor's wife Bronte helping carry it on. We carry full insurance, and we have deliberately never grown Brown's Professional Tree Service into the biggest outfit in the Gympie district. That is the point of it: ring us and the same people who quote your job are the ones who turn up to do it.

What happens on the day depends on what the tree is doing and how much room there is around it. On a confined residential block, or where a tree has grown up hard against a house or into the powerlines, we dismantle it section by section and rig each piece down instead of putting it on the ground in one go. A small backyard removal can be an hour or two of work. A large one, or a tight one where every limb has to be lowered, can take the whole day, and we will tell you which one it is when we quote it.

Once the saw stops, the trunk and branches get chipped or cut into manageable lengths and carted off, the ground is raked out and the site is left ready for replanting or landscaping. Stump grinding comes as part of the removal, so you are not left with a lump to mow around. Our base is at Pie Creek, and the run covers Gympie out to the Cooloola Coast, taking in Traveston, Tin Can Bay, Widgee, Curra and Chatsworth.

Not every tree needs to come out. Where one is worth keeping, tree trimming and ongoing tree maintenance hold the canopy in shape and take the deadwood out before it lands on something, and palm tree cleaning and removal gets the fronds and nuts down before they reach a roof, a pool or a car. We take on land clearing from a corner of a yard through to preparing a block for building, and after a blow we come out for storm damage clean-up and deal with what has come down. Everything that goes through our chipper is processed locally and sold back as bulk mulch in four or eight cubic metre loads, which holds moisture in the garden, keeps the weeds down and feeds the soil. Stock is limited and it moves through the year, so ring first to see what is on the ground.

Our hours are Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm. Give us a ring and one of us will come out, walk the block with you, look at the tree properly and tell you what it will take and how long it will be on site. The quote costs you nothing and there is no obligation on it.
