BSK Tree Services was started by Bradley Kingston, a climbing arborist with more than 13 years in the industry and around five running his own crew out of Warragul. The team is built around full-time climbing arborists, which is rarer than it sounds, backed by operators and apprentices working through their Certificate III and Diploma of Arboriculture. Everyone on the crew is fully insured and qualified, and the rigging is done to Australian Standards, which matters most on the high risk jobs near powerlines.

Tree removal is handled from the straightforward through to the awkward, including confined spaces where a tree has to be dismantled and rigged down in pieces. For height the crew runs cherry pickers from 20 to 50 metres, so a tall tree can be reached without putting a climber where they do not need to be. Tree maintenance covers pruning, weight reduction and crown thinning, all aimed at keeping a tree healthy and safe before it turns fragile or dangerous, along with hedge maintenance for gardens that need shape.

Once the cutting is done, stump grinding clears what is left in the ground and mulching deals with the rest. BSK runs woodchippers from 12 to 18 inches along with excavators and loaders, and the mulch that comes off a job can either be left on site for the garden or taken away. Very little is wasted, which suits the eco friendly approach the business takes to green waste and saves bringing in a second contractor to cart it all away.

The 24/7 side is more than a phone line. Emergency work is offered around the clock, including night jobs where a damaged tree is wire guided and lit with mobile lighting to hold it safe overnight, then assessed and removed the next day. On top of the hands on work, BSK also offers arboricultural consulting and report writing, including arboricultural impact assessments, hazard and risk assessments and tree management plans for councils, builders and property owners.

Based in Warragul, BSK Tree Services covers Drouin, Pakenham, Berwick, Cranbourne, Traralgon, Moe, Morwell, Leongatha, Korumburra, Inverloch, Wonthaggi and across to Phillip Island and the Bass Coast, taking in West, South and East Gippsland.
