UNSW Sydney, Sydney Water, Taronga Zoo, a number of NSW councils and several government agencies have all had us assessing their trees. Canopy Consulting is a consulting arboriculture practice based at Macquarie Park, delivering arboricultural services across Australia's urban landscape with over a decade of industry experience behind us. Every tree tells a story and every client's need is different, so what you get from us is practical, sustainable, evidence based advice.

Kane Hollstein directs the practice, an AQF Level 5 arborist and GIS analyst with 17 years in horticulture and more than a decade in arboriculture. Mark McHugh has specialised in arboriculture since 2017, and Matthew Brown has worked in climbing and consulting arboriculture since 2016, both of them AQF Level 5 arborists as well. We hold ISO certification in health and safety, environmental management and quality management systems, which means the documentation we hand you is backed by systems a council or a certifier will accept.

For anyone building near trees, we cover the whole sequence. Our preliminary development assessments get a project started on the right footing, our arboricultural impact assessments evaluate what a proposal will actually do to the trees on and around a site, and our tree protection management plans set out how the retained trees are to be safeguarded. Our project arborist services then carry that through the build itself. We also produce tree health assessments, strategic documents, large scale tree surveys and site wide tree inventories and management systems for clients holding whole portfolios of trees.

Where a tree needs more than a visual once over, we bring the equipment to it. Our sonic tomograph reports map internal condition without opening the tree up, our resistance drill testing checks structural integrity, and an aerial assessment puts an arborist up into the canopy where the defects usually are. Our root investigation and mapping analyses the root system, which is often the evidence that decides whether a tree can be retained alongside a slab or a driveway, and our trunk and branch protection keeps a retained tree intact while the work goes on around it.

For trees that are simply unwell, our plant health care and tree injections diagnose and treat the problem at the source, and our risk assessment work gives you a defensible rating on a tree instead of somebody's opinion.
