Carter's Tree Services runs out of a head office in Warrnambool and works across western Victoria and into south east South Australia through a network of regional depots. Manager Sean Barnes is a Diploma certified arborist, and the business brings over a decade in the tree industry to jobs that range from a suburban backyard through to large roadside and power line clearing contracts. It is set up to handle both the domestic side and the bigger commercial and civil work that comes with covering a large regional footprint.

Tree removal takes in everything from a single dead or dangerous tree through to large scale removals on rural properties and commercial sites. Trees standing over buildings, fences or power lines are climbed or reached from a machine and dismantled in a controlled way rather than dropped, and the crew is geared up for the bigger regional jobs that call for heavy machinery and proper traffic management on and around roads.

For the trees that are staying, tree trimming and pruning keeps them healthy, in shape and clear of roofs, power lines and access ways, and reduces the risk of limbs coming down in wind. Once a tree is gone, stump grinding and removal deals with what is left in the ground, taking the stump out below the surface so the spot can be levelled, replanted or built on without regrowth.

Beyond the domestic work, Carter's handles roadside vegetation management and power line vegetation management for councils and utilities, along with tree management plans and impact assessments and arboricultural reports and consultancy for development and planning. Equipment dry hire is also on offer for operators who need the gear without the crew, which suits contractors working across the same regional areas.
