Charlie's Tree Service

We have been doing tree work around Hobart since 2001. Charlie Biggins runs the business and holds a Diploma in Horticulture and Arboriculture, and that qualification is what sits behind the Quantified Tree Risk Assessment reports we prepare when a council wants one.

Getting a large tree out of a suburban block usually comes down to what you can get near it. We run a custom built 4x4 chipper bin truck, a large capacity woodchipper, a compact articulated loader, small and large excavators, elevated work platforms and all terrain cranes, so a tree sitting hard against a house or leaning over a fence can be taken down in controlled sections instead of dropped. The rope and harness side of it takes years to master, and there is not much we leave to chance.

Around the home we handle tree removals, crown reduction, where selective pruning brings the canopy in without spoiling the shape of the tree, and stump grinding to finish the job off and take the tripping hazard out of the lawn. Green waste goes through the chipper and comes back to you as mulch for the garden. We also do advanced tree planting if you want a replacement established and away sooner, and root barriers, which are often all it takes to stop problem roots getting at a slab or underground services.

For commercial clients we take on tree assessments and council reports, pruning to the Australian Standard for amenity trees, including service wire clearance, de-weighting heavy laterals and clearing dead wood, and cable and bracing systems that buy an older tree more time and make it safer to keep. For hazardous tree removal we come with WHS documents on site, licensed operators and industry certified equipment, and we have pulled enough fallen trees apart after storms to get moving at short notice.
