Paul and Connie Cherry run Cherry Arbor Co. from the Huon Valley, with Juno the dachshund holding the title of Chief Barketing Officer. Paul is an AQF3 qualified arborist who has worked across every part of the industry, and he brings a preservation mindset to a tree before he brings a saw to it. Connie comes at it from community engagement and planning, and she is a nature nerd at heart, so you will get a straight answer about a species and what it is likely to do over the next few years. Between the two of us you get the climbing and the cutting done properly, and the thinking about what should happen to the block afterwards.

Our tree pruning follows the Australian Standard AS4373-2007, so crown shaping, deadwood removal and asset clearance are all done to a defined method. Where a tree is diseased, damaged or genuinely hazardous, tree removal is the answer, and we plan it for minimal disruption on a working property. Not every ailing tree needs to go, though. Tree health care covers the assessment and the treatment plan when the trouble turns out to be disease, a pest infestation or a nutrient deficiency in the soil, and often that is the cheaper end of the conversation.

Everything that comes off a job can go through the chipper, which handles green material up to 90mm, and our chipping and mulching puts it back into your soil to hold water and feed what is still growing. Beyond the trees themselves we take on gardening and landscape design, from the research and the plant selection through to putting it in the ground, and we keep it going afterwards with hedge trimming, brush cutting and soil and water management. Habitat creation is part of the same thinking, because a hollow left standing in the right place is worth more to the block than a stump ground flat.
