Climb Right Tree Services is a Geelong tree crew run by Ben Duncanson, a seasoned arborist who works with a team of certified arborists out of North Shore. The whole outfit has a bit of a larrikin streak, they call themselves your local legends for tree care, but the work behind it is straight up and down: climbing, cutting and cleaning up trees across Geelong and the Surf Coast without any fuss.

Most days the work is tree removal and tree pruning. Whether it is a dangerous tree that has to come out or an overgrown one that just needs a good tidy up, Ben and the team climb and rig trees down properly rather than hacking at them from the ground. That means a big tree can come down in sections in a tight backyard, and the trees that stay get pruned to keep them healthy and in good shape rather than left lopsided, so what comes out goes without damaging the fence, the shed or the neighbour's roses.

Once a tree is down, stump removal and grinding gets the leftover stump out below the surface so it is not sitting in the lawn catching mower blades or sprouting again. The green waste does not just get carted off either: with tree mulching, the branches and offcuts are chipped on site and can go straight back onto the garden beds as mulch.

What sets Climb Right apart is its habitat creation work. Rather than treating every old tree as a removal job, Ben can carve out tree hollows and install bird nest boxes, giving possums, birds and other locals somewhere to live in trees that are being kept. It is a genuine help to native wildlife, and the sort of thing you only get from an arborist who actually likes trees rather than just cutting them down.
