A tree that is thinning out or shedding limbs is usually telling you something well before it fails. Working out what, and whether it can be saved, is what Shane and Melanie have built Coastal Arborist Services around over the past two decades. Our arborists hold Certificate III and a Diploma in Arboriculture, we are fully insured, and we work out of Riordanvale across the Whitsundays.

So we start at the tree. A health assessment goes over it for signs of distress or disease, and from there it might be precision pruning to hold its structure together, pest control to stop things nesting in a canopy that has been left too long, or a straight risk assessment on a limb sitting above somewhere people park, sit or walk. Twenty years on the same stretch of coast means we know which species here cope with the salt and the cyclones and which ones start letting go early, and that is usually what decides whether a tree gets kept or comes out.

Where a tree cannot be kept, our tree removal brings it down under control, from one problem tree in a back yard through to a block that needs land clearing before a build starts. Stump grinding follows it below ground level so you can lay lawn, beds or paving over the top, and our mulching puts everything we have cut back into usable material on the spot, which saves carting green waste off site and gives your garden beds something to work with.

Access is what makes the hard jobs hard, which is why we run a Monitor Lift 2210. It walks through small spaces and gets into back yards that a truck mounted platform cannot reach, and it is available for EWP hire when you have your own work at height to do. We also handle coconut de-nutting, which matters on the coastal blocks and anywhere people are walking underneath a palm.

When something has to be written down, we prepare tree reports and tree inspections on sick or dangerous trees for council applications, development approvals and general property planning. We cover Airlie Beach, Cannonvale, Proserpine and Bowen, Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm, and we take emergency call-outs when a tree has come down and cannot wait for a weekday.
