Dingo's Tree Services has been working out of North Wollongong since 2010, which puts more than fifteen years behind the name. The crew are qualified Level 3 arborists, fully insured and licensed, and the work splits between houses, businesses and development sites across the northern Illawarra.

Tree removal is the biggest part of it. Every job starts with an assessment of the size of the tree, how stable it is and what sits around it, and the tree comes down in controlled sections rather than in one go. The usual reasons are the ones you would expect on this coast: a tree knocked about by storms, one that has grown up into the powerlines, or a diseased tree that has become a liability. The jobs run from a single tree in a suburban back yard through to full site clearing.

They are also willing to tell you when a tree does not need to come out. Their own guidance on removal is about warning signs rather than sales: a tree that is dead or structurally compromised and dropping limbs without warning, roots working into foundations, underground plumbing or pavement, or a tree that has simply outgrown its spot and is shading everything else out. Where the tree can be saved, the recommendation is pruning or bracing instead.

Tree pruning and maintenance takes out dead and overgrown branches, tidies up the structure of the canopy and lowers the odds of a limb tearing out in a storm. Stump grinding follows a removal, taking the stump below surface level so the ground is smooth and ready for turf, replanting or a slab, and stopping the regrowth and trip hazard that a leftover stump brings. Land clearing handles trees, shrubs and debris on blocks being prepared for a build or opened up for access.

What comes off the job does not go to waste: mulch and woodchip is recycled and supplied for garden beds, pathways and erosion control, where it holds moisture in the soil and keeps the weeds down. The service area covers Wollongong, Woonona, Dapto and Shellharbour. The process is kept simple, a quote first, then a time arranged, then the job and payment, and the office is open around the clock Monday to Saturday.
