Some of our jobs are a long way from anywhere. We travel as far as Kalumburu at the northern tip of Western Australia, and out to communities hundreds of kilometres south along the Duncan and Tanami Roads. Driftwood Tree Services is locally owned and operated out of Kununurra, working for private and commercial clients across the Kimberley and into the remote communities on the western edge of the Northern Territory. Luke runs the business, with ten years as an arborist behind him and five of those spent servicing the Kimberley and Big Rivers regions. The crew are industry certified arborists. What we are actually here to do is nurture and preserve trees through proper care and maintenance, balancing the function and the amenity of what is growing on a site rather than simply cutting it down.

Tree pruning keeps a tree healthy and in shape, and where one genuinely has to go, tree removal is done in a way that protects everything standing around it. Afterwards, stump grinding takes the stump right out so nothing shoots back up through it. A tree that has not had anyone look at it in a few years is worth an inspection before the wet, while there is still time to do something about what you find.

Forestry mulching clears vegetation across a whole block and leaves the mulched material down on the ground where it still does some good. Fire break clearance puts the breaks in that slow a fire down, and it is work worth having done well before a season starts, not partway through one. Power line clearance keeps vegetation back off the lines so the power stays on and nobody comes to grief under them.

When the weather has been through, emergency storm damage clearing gets us out quickly to open access back up and make a site safe. In this part of the country that can mean a road or a station track long before it means somebody's driveway.
