AS 4373-2007 is the Australian Standard the trade wrote to describe how a tree should actually be pruned, and it governs every cut we make. Fredwood Tree Services has been working Melbourne trees for more than fifteen years from a base at Reservoir in the north, and holding to that standard on every job is the difference between a tree that recovers from a prune and a tree that spends the next decade paying for it.

Most of what we do is aimed at keeping a tree where it is. We do the shaping, thinning and clearance work of pruning and trimming that keeps a canopy healthy and off the roof, and behind it sits a full tree health care side: disease control, stem injections and soil conditioning for a tree that is struggling, and structural bracing for a weak or splitting limb that would otherwise cost you the whole tree.

The part of the business we are proudest of is our Branch-out for Biodiversity program, which we run for residents around here. It is why we make habitat logs available on request instead of chipping everything that comes off a job, why we install possum guards to keep possums out of your roof space and off the bark of a mature tree, and why we keep a free mulch list you can put your name on so the material we generate ends up on somebody's garden bed.

When a tree genuinely has to go, our tree removal is planned around the drop and the clean up before the first cut, and we give you permit advice as part of it, because several councils in Melbourne's north want approval in hand before a tree comes down. After a storm our emergency response handles the trees that have fallen and the ones left dangerous, and we take on film and special projects when a production needs tree work done to a brief.
