About This Business
Insulating gloves and barrier covers are what let a crew work a conductor while it is still live, and gear like that is why GAB Group gets called to jobs a tree company on its own could not finish. We are a family owned business out of Warrnambool, working through Cobden, Koroit, Port Fairy, Terang, Caramut, Hamilton and the country around them, and we carry three trades that most people meet separately: tree management, traffic control and electrical distribution.
Put those three on one job and you get something like an overgrown pole run on a country road. Our own No Go Zone spotters watch the crew doing the cutting, our traffic controllers hold the road while it happens, and if the line itself needs attention we can carry out HV and LV construction, overhead or underground, HV switching and application preparation, pole installation and public lighting on the same visit. Power line vegetation clearing is the part you see from the footpath. Live line glove and barrier work, distribution asset maintenance, customer servicing and test and tag inspection are the parts behind it.
The traffic side stands up on its own. We are a VicRoads prequalified company for traffic management services throughout Victoria, with our management systems fully audited and accepted for that prequalification, and we hold a VicRoads MOA permit. That covers traffic management plans, traffic guidance schemes, pedestrian management, equipment hire and full coordination of an event, and it is work we have done for councils including Warrnambool City, Greater Geelong and Yarra City. Our controllers range from a first year ticket through to twelve years standing in the weather.
On the trees themselves, every cut follows AS 4373:2007, the Australian Standard for the pruning of amenity trees, so tree pruning leaves a tree able to seal its wounds and keep going. Where there is no room to drop anything, our climbers rope it down in pieces, which is what tree removal on a tight block actually looks like. Palms are their own job: the fronds on a Date Palm will cut you, the trunks are tough enough that there are very few right ways to take one out, and we have the reach for the tall ones. Stump removal and a cleared, prepared site come with the work, not on top of it.
What comes off a job does not go far. Branches go through the chipper on site and come back out as mulch sales, the timber worth burning goes out as wood sales, and both stay in the district they came from. If you want a price on tree work, ring 0487 177 024 and the quote is free. For the power and traffic side, or anything you are not sure who to ask about, 0408 629 377 is the number.
