George's Tree Services

George's Tree Services has been going since 1981, which makes it one of the longest running tree businesses in the Clarence Valley. It is locally owned and family run, based in South Grafton, and forty odd years in the same valley means the crew has usually seen the tree in question before, or one just like it two streets over. The team hold Certificate IV in Horticulture and Arboriculture and the business is fully insured.

Tree removal and tree pruning make up the bulk of the work, followed by stump grinding to clear what is left behind. Chipping and mulching turns the debris into something useful rather than a tip run, and garden maintenance is offered as well, so a property can be kept tidy between the bigger jobs instead of only being visited when something has gone wrong.

The emergency and insurance side runs 24 hours. The site puts it about as plainly as it can be put: whether it is the middle of the night or a public holiday, an arborist is available. That covers a fallen tree that has damaged a house or a car, hazardous limbs left hanging after a blow, and the removal or pruning of whatever caused the damage. The company also handles the insurance side of storm work, which is the part most people would rather not deal with while there is still a tree through the carport.

There is a preventative service too, which the business calls storm proofing. It means assessing the trees on a property and taking out the branches likely to fail before the weather does it for you. In a district that catches east coast lows and regular flooding, getting rid of a compromised limb in advance is considerably cheaper than the emergency call out afterwards.
