About This Business
The Royal Botanic Gardens and Parliament House are on the list of Melbourne sites Kyle worked on before he came home to start Gervis Tree Services. He grew up in Port Fairy, has over ten years in arboriculture, holds a diploma in arboriculture and is licensed to conduct arborist reports. Jonathan came to us from building, farming and fruit tree maintenance and takes the complex removals and pruning, and Michael finished a degree in zoology before moving into the trade, which is why what lives in a tree gets counted here alongside the tree itself. We are qualified and insured climbing arborists based in Warrnambool.
Complicated work is what we are set up for: a tight block, a tree hanging over a house, anything that wants a climber on rope. Our tree pruning and tree removal cover those, and fruit tree pruning is a service in its own right, which is unusual among tree companies and comes straight out of Jonathan's orchard work. Whatever comes down is dealt with where it lands through stump grinding and chipping services, and you are welcome to keep the firewood, cut to length if that suits, along with the mulch.
The other half of what we do is keeping trees standing. Our consultations and arborist reports cover risk assessments, impact assessments, tree management plans and health and structure reports. Where a limb or a union is failing, tree support and bracing can buy a tree years it would not otherwise get, and our tree vigour and soil amendment work goes at a declining tree from the root zone up. We also carve and install habitat hollows, though not every tree is viable, because owls, rosellas, possums and microbats each need a hollow of a particular size and orientation.
How we run a job matters as much to us as the job itself. We use electric tools where possible and biodegradable oil in the saws, we plant more trees than we remove, and we put hollows back for the animals that lose them. That thinking carries into our tree planting, garden design and mulch delivery, drawing on permaculture and syntropic agroforestry. Our regular ground is anywhere inside the Warrnambool and Moyne council areas, taking in Port Fairy, Koroit and Hamilton, and we have worked further afield at Halls Gap, Hopetoun, Portland and Melbourne.
Our expertise is in complex pruning and removals, but our knowledge and our interest lie in the connection to nature, and you will hear that in the advice we give you. We carry public and products liability insurance as well as professional indemnity. Quotes and consultations are free, there is a minimum callout of $150 on paid work, and you can book us through the request form on our site or ring 0427 761 062.
