About This Business

Battery powered arborist tools are part of the standard kit here, and combined with the rest of how we work they are how we bring the emissions on a job, and your overall carbon footprint, down. That counts for something in the sort of streets we work: Global Arborist Australia is based at Port Melbourne, names North Melbourne alongside it, and takes work across Melbourne generally, which is a lot of narrow frontages and close neighbours.

Jack Balsamo started in the trade in 2008 and has spent the fifteen years since on trees here and overseas. He holds a Certificate III and a Diploma in Arboriculture, a QTRA qualification for tree risk assessment, and training through ABBA International. The business carries 20 million dollars of public liability insurance along with WorkCover, and our pruning follows Australian Standard AS 4373-2007, which is what keeps a cut supporting long term growth instead of quietly weakening the tree.

Tree removal divides into the jobs people actually ring about. Dead, diseased or structurally unsound trees, where a falling branch or an unstable trunk is threatening a house, a fence, a car or somebody standing underneath. Block clearance, where land has to be cleared before building or landscaping starts and there are several trees to come out at once. And emergency storm work, for the tree already down or the limb left hanging. On a removal we will also advise on replanting suitable indigenous trees, so your garden is not simply left short.

Knowing when and how to prune is the part that catches people out, because poor or aggressive cutting can weaken a tree, leave it unstable, or breach council regulations. So a job starts with a conversation about what you are after. Formative pruning shapes the structure of a young tree and encourages strong branch development, heading off problems that would otherwise turn up decades later. From there, weight reduction and canopy reduction handle a tree that has got away from itself, property clearance takes branches out of a roof or off a line, dead wooding strips out what has died in the canopy, and broken and hanging branches come off after wind. Annual pruning plans are available where a tree needs staying on top of. Habitat creation is a pruning outcome here rather than an afterthought, and cabling and bracing gives a structurally weak tree the support to keep standing.

The thread through all of it is what we call the give back concept: a tree removal does not have to be wasteful, and what comes off your property can go straight back into it. Branches and foliage become mulch on site for your garden beds, we can arrange a mulch drop-off later if you do not want it immediately, and felled timber gets cut and split into firewood to burn through winter. Arborist reports and tree planting round out what we do. Our hours are Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday 8am to 5pm, so a weekend visit is an ordinary booking here. Ring 0490 769 564 and we will come and have a look at it.
