Green Geeks Tree Services

Tree work runs three generations deep in our family. Michael is a certified arborist with 18 years of industry and technical experience behind him and a Certificate III in Arboriculture Practices, and since 2022 he and Ashlee have run Green Geeks Tree Services out of Hervey Bay as a husband and wife team, with hard working staff alongside them and four children at home. When you ask us to quote, Michael comes out and does it himself, because he would rather see the tree than guess at it.

We take trees down safely and cleanly whatever their size and wherever they happen to be standing, and we look after the garden and the property around them while we are at it. Palms get their own attention on a coastal block, so we handle palm removal, cleaning and trimming and get the dead fronds off before they come down on their own. Where a tree sits somewhere awkward, our climbing and aerial work puts an arborist up there on ropes and harness, lowering trimmings and blocks down a piece at a time from heights nothing on the ground can reach.

For the trees that are staying, tree trimming and crown reduction take height and weight out of an established tree in a way it can recover from, fruit tree pruning sets a backyard orchard up for a better crop, and hedge trimming keeps a screen or a boundary looking sharp. Every cut is one a qualified arborist has thought about before the saw goes anywhere near it.

Once the tree is down we grind the stump out so you can put lawn, paving or a garden bed back over the spot, and what we carry away comes back as mulch, which we supply for gardens around the district. We put trees in as well: our planting programmes pick species that suit the position and support the local ecosystem, which is the part of the job we would like our four to inherit in decent shape.

Safety is where our money goes. We run rigorous safety training and strict occupational health and safety policies including Workcover, and we carry a $20,000,000 public liability insurance policy on every job we turn up to. Our crews work Monday to Friday from 6:30am to 5pm and the office is on the phone between 9am and 4pm. We are based in Hervey Bay and travel out from there, Maryborough included.
