Green Tree Consultancy was established in 2020 with one primary objective: honest and impartial high-level arboricultural advice for the private, commercial and government sectors in New South Wales. Local government engages us to assess the Tree Applications and Development Applications that come across council desks, which is a fair test of whether advice is genuinely impartial. We are a small team of fully qualified consulting arborists, each with over 15 years working in the arboricultural and horticultural industries.

We are a Registered Consulting Arborist with Arboriculture Australia and an associate member of the Institute of Australian Consulting Arboriculturists, qualified at AQF Level 5, the Diploma in Arboriculture, and our risk assessors are qualified in TRAQ, QTRA and VALID. Public liability cover sits at twenty million dollars and professional indemnity at five million. Our base is in southern Sydney at Cronulla, servicing the Greater Sydney area, and we travel throughout the state and can service all areas of NSW.

Without an inventory, managing a green asset properly turns into guesswork, which is why a tree survey is usually the first thing we suggest to a landholder with more than a handful of trees. Trees are accurately geolocated, the survey data fields are customisable so you collect what the project actually needs, and the results come back in formats that drop straight into GIS, CAD and asset management software. If you have no tree asset management system yet, we can help you put one together. The approach works the same for a small group of trees or a whole population spread across a large geographical area.

On development projects we can come in at any stage, though bringing a Project Arborist in early is what avoids the costly mistakes that can otherwise stop a development proceeding. The work runs from arboricultural site surveys and preliminary tree assessment reports through Arboricultural Impact Assessment reports, design review and consultation, root mapping and tree protection plans and specifications, to site supervision, monitoring, and the compliance and inspection certifications needed for CDC, DA, CC and OC sign-off.

Away from development, tree risk assessment can be a single tree looked at once or an ongoing programme across whole tree populations, using whichever of TRAQ, QTRA and VALID suits the situation. We also take on tree health and structural assessments, pest and disease identification with the solutions to go with it, tree planting specifications and species selection, pruning specifications, tree valuations and tree management plans, and we draft arboricultural strategies, policies and procedures for organisations that have to work to one. All of it operates in compliance with AS4970-2009, AS2303-2018 and NATSPEC, AS4373-2007, the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, the Biodiversity Conservation Act 2016, the Work Health and Safety Act 2011, and the 2021 State Environmental Planning Policy for Biodiversity and Conservation.
