About This Business
Before a tree comes down on a block out here, we have a wildlife inspector check it for koalas. This is one of the few corners of the country where koala habitat and house blocks sit on top of one another, and that inspection does two things at once: it keeps a koala out of harm's way, and it keeps you clear of a cruelty charge you never intended to risk. Green's Tree Lopping has worked that way since 2002. David Green runs the business out of Rous Mill, in the hills behind Ballina, with a crew of licensed arborists carrying more than 30 years of collective experience in the tree removal industry between them.
The yard is at Rous Mill and the run covers the region: Lismore, Ballina, Casino, Alstonville, Kyogle and the rest of the Northern Rivers, for domestic customers and corporate sites alike. Our hours are listed as 24 and they are meant literally, which is worth knowing in a district that cops storms, floods and the occasional serious wind event.
A tall tree in a tight spot is a segment job, and that is what the 20 metre cherry picker is for. It puts a ticketed operator level with the limbs so the tree comes off from the top down in pieces we can control, and the 4x4 Hiab crane trucks lift the heavy sections straight out and carry them off the property. Every job opens with a complete risk assessment: we work out what could go wrong, then build the cutting plan around the tree and whatever is sitting underneath it. Our arborists hold EWP licences and Chainsaw Level 3 certification, so the height work and the larger tree removal and tree felling jobs stay with the crew you booked.
What comes off the tree goes through an 18 inch wood chipper on site, and the mulch that comes out the other end we sell and deliver, so the tree that left one property finishes up on somebody's garden beds. Our Vermeer machinery does the stump removal and grinding, taking the stump out of the ground properly and leaving you free to turf, pave or plant over the spot. We take on palm pruning as well, clearing the dead fronds off and keeping the palm healthy, which counts for something on a coast where the fronds get well out of reach of a ladder and come down heavy.
One dead tree in a back yard or a whole line of them along a rural boundary, it is the same crew that turns up either way. Ring us on the Rous Mill number, tell us what the tree is and where it stands, and we will come out and do the risk assessment first. You will know what we intend to cut, in what order, and what it is going to cost you, before anybody starts a saw.
