Hayes Tree Care

Four local government areas, from Rockingham in the north down through Mandurah to Dwellingup, and inland as far as Jarrahdale: that is the patch Hayes Tree Care covers. Nick and Leona Hayes run it as a family business, and we are one of the main contractors for the City of Mandurah.

Nick puts it this way: some people fall out of trees, he fell into them. He found arboriculture as a very young man and has been at it for over 22 years, working for some of the best companies England and Australia have to offer along the way. Eleven of those years have been spent here, and that is where he met and married Leona. In 2014 the two of us decided that one day we would run our own family tree company. In 2022 that became this one. Leona is a hairstylist by trade and looks after the office side, and Nick assures her that cutting trees is much the same as cutting hair.

We are fully qualified arborists and tree surgeons, with ISA certification, a Certificate III in Arboriculture and a Cert II ESI in Energy Safety, and we work to Australian Standard 4373-2007 for the pruning of amenity trees. Nick is a licensed user of Quantified Tree Risk Assessment, licence number 7579, so when a tree needs assessing for the risk it genuinely poses, that assessment follows a recognised method. We are fully insured and members of the Peel Chamber of Commerce.

We take on tree removal, tree pruning and stump grinding, plus hedge, shrub and palm trimming for the smaller work around a garden. A whole site can be taken down with block clearance. Corrective bracing is the one worth asking about: a tree with a split fork or a weak union can often be braced and kept instead of felled, and where a tree has good years left in it that is the option we would put to you first. The energy safety ticket covers power line clearance, and environmental solutions handle the wider land care side of a property.

There is emergency and insurance works as well, and we are available seven days a week, so a tree that has come down across a fence or a roof does not have to sit there until Monday. Insurance jobs are a regular part of what we do. We also try to conserve as many trees as we can, because the landscape and the natural environment are the biggest assets any of us have to look after.
