Hayes Tree Care

Some people fall out of trees. Nick Hayes fell into them, as a very young man ready to take on the world, and 22 years later he is still at it. Those years took in some of the best companies England and Australia have to offer, eleven of them spent here in Australia, where he met and married Leona and where the two of them decided in 2014 that one day they would run their own family tree company. In 2022 that became Hayes Tree Care. Leona is a hairstylist by trade and looks after the office, and Nick assures her that cutting trees is much the same as cutting hair.

We are one of the main contractors for the City of Mandurah and a member of the Peel Chamber of Commerce, and the work runs through the whole Peel region: the City of Mandurah, Murray and Serpentine-Jarrahdale, along with the City of Rockingham including Baldivis and Karnup. That takes in Halls Head, Falcon, Dawesville, Erskine, Lakelands, Meadow Springs, Pinjarra, Ravenswood, North Yunderup, Dwellingup, Byford, Mundijong, Secret Harbour, Port Kennedy and Warnbro, among a good many others.

Taking a large limb off a tree can unbalance it and stress it into throwing weaker growth, epicormic shoots that are poorly attached and no safer than what you cut away. The alternative we would rather put to you is corrective bracing, used alongside weight reduction and formative pruning to retain the limb while bringing the risk to people and property down. That thinking runs through the whole business. Dead trees, roots damaging property, dead branches, too much shade, hazardous branches, a tree you simply do not like the look of: there are solutions for every one of those that do not involve cutting the tree down, and it is worth asking before you assume it has to go.

Nick is a licensed user of Quantified Tree Risk Assessment, licence number 7579, so when a tree does need assessing for the risk it genuinely poses, that assessment follows a recognised method. We hold ISA certification, a Certificate III in Arboriculture and a Cert II ESI in Energy Safety, we work to Australian Standard 4373-2007 for the pruning of amenity trees, and we are fully insured. The energy safety ticket is what covers our power line clearance work.

When a tree really does have to come out, we do tree removal from the fine and formative right through to full complex jobs, with stump grinding after it. For a whole site there is block clearance, with hedge, shrub and palm trimming for the smaller work around a garden and environmental solutions for the wider land care of a property. We take on emergency and insurance works as a regular part of the job and we are available seven days a week, so a tree across a fence or a roof does not have to sit there until Monday.
