Paz Cooper owns and runs Heartwood Tree Care, and he holds both a Cert 3 and a Cert 5 in arboriculture. The first one gets you up the tree. The second tells you whether it should be coming down at all. That means Paz can assess a tree for disease, decay and structural faults, tell you what it actually needs, and then go and do the work himself. He has taught at NMIT and Melbourne Polytechnic as well, training other people to become arborists. He prices every job himself and he is on site with the crew to finish it.

We are a small, specialist tree company working the northern and eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The crew hold accreditation in training and assessing at Cert 3 TAE, rope access technical skills and other trade qualifications, and some have come through commercial work across Melbourne including premier parks and gardens. Your property is covered by our $20 million public liability insurance, and the price we quote is the price, with nothing added on afterwards.

Our tree pruning is carried out to the Australian Standards and takes in weight reductions, canopy reductions, service wire clearance, property clearance, retrenchment pruning and hedge trimming. Tree removal runs from a small backyard tree up to a large crane dismantle, and where one does have to go, we will talk you through a suitable replacement to put in its place.

A structural fault does not always mean a tree has to come out. Where there is a weak union or a split, cable and bracing, or bolting, can hold it together and keep the tree for years yet. Making that call properly is why our consultation and advice work uses aerial inspection as well as a look from the ground, because the things that decide a tree's future are usually up in the canopy and out of sight from the lawn. Commercial tree work for businesses, educational institutions and government departments with large grounds runs on the same assessments, with safety, risk and compliance all having to stack up.
