Josh Millbank is the lead arborist at Highlands Trees and the person on the other end of the phone when you ring us. We are a locally owned arboriculture business working out of Bowral, we are fully insured, and the crew on the tools are qualified arborists. The business is growing, and we are taking on both qualified arborists and apprentices as it does. Between the crew we handle the full run of tree work across the Highlands, from a single overgrown hedge to a large removal on a tight block.

A tree that is dead, dying, damaging a building or simply standing where you need to build something becomes a problem, and tree removal is the job we are set up for. That means the dismantling and the felling itself, then the clean-up and disposal afterwards, so the property is left clear and safe and there is no pile of timber sitting in the yard waiting on you. It is dangerous work, it wants the right equipment behind it, and it is worth having qualified hands on the saw.

Pruning and dead limbing is the quieter half of the job and it is what keeps a tree in good health and off your roof. Taking the deadwood out encourages better growth and stops limbs dropping onto a car, a shed or a person. Hedge reduction gets the same treatment. Bringing an overgrown hedge back opens up the view again, lets more light down into the garden so what is planted underneath has a chance, and makes the next few years of maintenance a great deal easier.

Emergency storm work is the other side of what we do. Severe weather across the Highlands brings down branches and snaps trunks, and what it leaves standing is often unstable. We clear the hazard, cut back the broken limbs so the damage does not turn into an entry point for disease, and tidy the site up so you can get on with the rest of the clean-up. If a branch has come down across a driveway or a fence line and you cannot get past it, give us a ring.
