A hills block comes with problems a flat suburban lot does not: mature gums that were there long before the house, powerlines running straight through a canopy, and weather that arrives over the ranges with no warning. Hills Tree Solutions has worked in that setting from Mundaring since 2005, family owned and operated the whole way, which is a useful thing when the tree you are worried about is bigger than your roof.

In May 2024 the Mitchell family at Kalamunda had a River Red Gum that had outgrown its spot: 25 metres tall, a trunk 1.2 metres across, standing three metres from the main residence and two metres from the neighbour's fence, with large limbs hanging over the pool and the outdoor entertaining area. The only equipment access was a narrow side gate through established garden beds, and the neighbours needed the job done without so much as debris landing on their side. It took three days of rigging the tree down in sections, and it finished with zero property damage.

Peter and Stephen bought the business in 2012, a father and son who came down from the country and brought that work ethic with them, and word of mouth did the rest. Stephen is the director and on-site manager, Peter is the other director, Simon leads the ground crew, Mike handles contracts and Laurie runs the administration. Our arborists are certified, and Stephen and the on-site crew keep their training and study going rather than treating a ticket as the end of it.

The everyday work is tree removal taken down in sections with the gear matched to the site, tree pruning and trimming where a tree only needs bringing back off a roof, tree lopping, and stump grinding when you want the ground flat and plantable again. We use battery powered saws wherever a job allows it, which keeps the noise down in a street where the houses sit close together and cuts the carbon out of a routine prune. A tree hard against a shed or leaning over a boundary fence gets rigged and lowered piece by piece.

Powerline clearance is its own discipline and we work to the compliance the network requires, which matters on the many hills blocks with a line running through the canopy. When a blow comes through, our storm damage crew is available around the clock for limbs down across a driveway or a tree resting on a roof, and we are fully insured and will help you put the insurance claim paperwork together afterwards. Zero harm is the benchmark on every site and each job is planned out on the ground before anyone climbs. Our quoting and invoicing is paperless, and the timber and green waste off a job is recycled or reused, coming back out as mulch we produce and deliver.
