Everything we run at Hills Tree Solutions goes out of Mundaring, which puts us in the middle of the Perth Hills. The business started in 2005, and Peter and Stephen, a father and son who came down from the country, took it over in 2012. Stephen is the director on site, Peter is behind him, Simon leads the ground crew, Mike looks after contracts and Laurie runs the office. Between the two directors there is more than 35 years of combined experience in the trade.

When a tree has to come out we take it down in sections with the gear matched to the site, and where it only needs bringing back into line we do tree pruning and trimming to keep it healthy and off the roof. Tree lopping and tree removal both finish with stump grinding if you want the ground back flat and plantable. We pick battery powered saws wherever the job allows, which keeps the noise down in a street where the houses sit close together. A tree hard against a shed or leaning over a boundary fence gets rigged and lowered piece by piece, so nothing comes down where it should not.

Powerline clearance is its own discipline and we work to the compliance the network requires. After a blow comes through the hills, our storm damage crew is available 24/7 for limbs down across a driveway, a tree leaning on a roof, or anything that cannot safely wait until Monday morning. We are fully insured, and we will help you put the insurance claim paperwork together afterwards. Plenty of hills blocks have a line running straight through a canopy, and that is work you want done by a crew that does it regularly.

The timber and green waste that comes off our jobs goes through the chipper and back out as mulch, which we produce and deliver. Our crew are certified arborists, and Stephen and the on-site team keep their training going. We hold ourselves to a zero harm standard on site, and every job gets planned out on the ground before anyone climbs. The business set out to do tree work for the hills community in a way that was safe and environmentally responsible, and that is still how Peter and Stephen run it.
