There are two of us, and that is the whole company. Paul Neilsen is a certified level 5 arborist with thirty years in the industry, Jo Wedge works alongside him, and on most jobs it is just the pair of us on your property. It means the people who quote the work are the people who carry it out, and nobody is subcontracting your tree to a crew you have never met. Husband and Wife Tree Service is exactly what the name says, a husband and wife team with a genuine liking for tree work, looking after trees and gardens across Brisbane and its north side.

Our tree work takes trees of any size, and the pruning is done in accordance with the Australian standard AS4373-2007, which matters more than it sounds. A cut made in the right place seals and the tree carries on. A cut made in the wrong place is an open wound that invites decay for the next decade. We also handle the removal of dead limbs to make a tree safe, the removal of an entire tree where that is what is needed, and palms cleaned of the fronds and seed that build up out of reach.

Plenty of our customers want the whole outdoor space looked after rather than one tree dealt with, and our garden work covers that. Light pruning, and the shaping or removal of shrubs and hedges, keeps beds and borders in order between visits. Paul is also happy to give advice on pests, diseases and plant nutrition, which is often the conversation worth having before anyone starts cutting, because a struggling garden usually has a cause rather than a symptom.

To finish a job cleanly we run a portable stump grinder, light enough to be carried onto a site by hand and small enough to reach the tight places and awkward garden beds that a towed machine will never get near. It is a slower way to work and a far better one for a garden you have spent years building up, because nothing has to be driven across your lawn to get to the stump.

Green waste is put through our twelve inch Bandit chipper and turned into forest mulch on site rather than carted off. The resulting wood chip is available at twenty five dollars per cubic metre, delivery to the north side included, ready to hold soil moisture and put organic matter back into a garden.
