Getting a tree out is rarely as simple as dropping it where it stands. Tree removal and tree felling are the tasks that take the most planning, and where there is no clear fall we bring in ropes, winches, hydraulic jacks and partial dismantling to bring the tree down in sections instead. Trees give subtle but identifiable signs of future failure, and risk reduction starts with reading those signs before a limb comes down on its own. Where the problem is structural rather than terminal, tree bracing gives a split trunk or a heavy union something to hold it together.

Plenty of trees do not need to come out at all. Tree pruning and deadwood removal open the canopy back up, take the weight off limbs that have run out further than they can carry, and clear branches back off a roof or a driveway.
