Adam Begaud has been working trees around Sydney for more than thirty years, and Ideal Tree Services is his: family owned, run out of Davidson, and fully insured. Over that time the work has taken in golf courses, schools, councils, the Defence Housing Authority, the Department of Housing and National Parks and Wildlife, alongside the residential and commercial jobs across the north of Sydney.

On an established tree, our tree pruning and maintenance takes the weight out of the right places and leaves the structure underneath intact, which is the difference between a tree that goes on for another thirty years and one that fails in a storm. It also keeps the canopy off a roofline and out of the wires, which is where most of the trouble on a suburban block starts.

When a tree is dead, dangerous or simply standing in the wrong place, we plan the tree removal around the people and property near it, rig it down in a controlled way rather than dropping it, and clean up properly so the site is tidy when we drive off it. On the tight blocks through the Forest District that usually means dismantling from up in the tree, because there is nowhere on the ground to put it.

What is left in the ground afterwards comes out with the stump grinding and stump removal, which stops the regrowth before it starts and hands you back the space for lawn, garden or paving.

The bigger end of the work is vegetation management and land clearing, for property owners, builders and councils who need an overgrown block brought back under control. Thirty years of doing that across the north of Sydney means we have a fair idea what a block will take before we quote it, and what the council will have to say about it. Builders get a straight answer on timing, and homeowners get one on cost.
