JC Tree Management

JC Tree Management is a family run tree surgery business owned and operated by Jonathan Cox, working out of Rose Bay in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. The business was established in 2009 and Jonathan has been a qualified tree surgeon for more than twenty years. As the site puts it, the company prides itself on a professional and personal approach, with customer service at the forefront of its values.

The training is English. Jonathan holds a National Certificate in Arboriculture from Moulton Agricultural College in Northamptonshire, taken in 1998 and equivalent to Australian Level 4, and he worked at Kew Gardens and Buckingham Palace before bringing that experience to Sydney. Alongside the arboriculture qualification sit certificates in chainsaw use, rigging, climbing, felling and aerial rescue. The business carries 10 million dollars of public liability insurance and works to Australian safety standards.

Tree removal is approached as a question of method rather than a single technique. Depending on the site, a tree may come down by sectional felling and dismantling, straight felling, crane removal or from an elevated work platform, and the site is upfront that removal is sometimes simply the only option left. Clear felling is offered where a block is being redeveloped and an area needs clearing under control, with attention paid to keeping the environmental impact down. Stump grinding and stump removal are done by machine, which keeps ground disturbance low and lets an owner replant without worrying about regrowth.

Where a tree can be kept, pruning and maintenance is the alternative. The service covers deadwooding, crown thinning, crown lifting and weight reduction, all of which can improve the health of a tree while cutting the risk of a limb causing injury or damage to a building.
