K2 Arboriculture

The week runs north through Stirling, Duncraig and Joondalup, west out to Cottesloe, and south east as far as Armadale, taking in residential blocks, commercial grounds, schools and development sites across Perth and the suburbs around it. Where a tree needs documenting rather than cutting, we write arborist reports. On a private property that means identifying structural issues, decay, pest damage or a risk to a building, a fence or a driveway, and the report comes back with photos, data and clear management options, which is the documentation councils commonly ask for before they will approve a removal or a prune. For builders and developers we prepare arboricultural impact assessments to AS 4970 (2025) Protection of Trees on Development Sites, setting out how the proposed works will affect the trees being retained, with Notional Root Zone and Structural Root Zone calculations and protection measures tailored to the planning conditions on that site.

Schools, public spaces and commercial sites come to us for QTRA risk assessments. Quantified Tree Risk Assessment puts a measurable, evidence based figure on what a tree actually presents, and what a duty holder gets out of it is the ability to prioritise the maintenance that matters, deal with the hazards that warrant it, and demonstrate afterwards how the decision was reached. That last part is the one people wish they had when a question comes up two years later.

The hands on work runs alongside the reports and to the same standards. Our tree pruning follows AS 4373 Pruning of Amenity Trees, so a cut goes where the tree can seal over it. Where a tree is past saving or simply in the wrong place, tree removal and stump grinding clear the site properly, and a tree with a structural weakness that is still worth keeping can often be held with tree support systems, using cabling, bracing or propping to take the load off the weak point.
