Our prices sit on the website where you can read them before you ring anyone. Stump removal starts at $55 per foot of diameter with a $200 minimum, mulch is $30 a metre with free delivery on the Surf Coast, a standard tree report is $450 plus $70 per tree, and a development report with a tree protection plan starts at $800. Anything outside those rates gets an obligation free quote.

KC Treecare works out of Jan Juc, at the Torquay end of the Surf Coast. Kevin Chisholm, our director, has more than 15 years up the rope as a climbing arborist and holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science with a Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture from Melbourne University's Burnley campus, a level 8 qualification and the highest available in the southern hemisphere. Behind him are six full-time staff, all certified arborists, and all of them living in the same towns as the people who ring us.

Tree removal covers the full range for us, and that includes emergency tree removal and storm damage clean-up when something has come down and will not wait. Where a tree can be kept, we would rather keep it, which is where pruning and fruit tree pruning come in. Stump removal and mulching follow on behind, and the chip is sold back out as fresh mulch by the metre.

Service line clearance keeps vegetation clear of power lines and utilities, and we have done a lot of assessment and maintenance work of that kind. Fire prevention puts arboricultural judgement alongside modern fire mitigation strategies, which matters on a property with heavy vegetation heading into summer. Possum guard installation is the humane way to stop possums and other animals getting up a tree and damaging it. We also do cat rescue.

On the paperwork side we write tree health reports, tree inventories, development reports with tree protection plans, and safety reports, and we can act as an expert witness where a tree ends up in dispute. Schools, caravan parks and anyone planning a development are the ones who tend to need that end of the work.
