KC Treecare

Six full-time staff work at KC Treecare now, all of them certified arborists, and all of them living in the same towns as the people who ring us. The base is Jan Juc, at the Torquay end of the Surf Coast, and the work runs across Greater Geelong, the Bellarine Peninsula and the Surf Coast itself.

Kevin Chisholm is our director, with more than 15 years up the rope as a climbing arborist and counting. He holds a Bachelor of Environmental Science and a Graduate Certificate in Arboriculture from Melbourne University's Burnley campus, which is a level 8 qualification and the highest available in the southern hemisphere. Kevin lives and works in Jan Juc and takes some pride in employing local people, so the crew that turns up at your place is the crew you already see around town.

For tree removal we handle the lot, from a planned take down through to emergency tree removal and storm damage clean up when something has already come down across your place. Where a tree can be kept we would sooner keep it, so we do tree pruning and fruit tree pruning as well. We install possum guards, which are a safe and humane way of stopping possums and other animals getting up a tree and damaging it. Our service line clearance work covers the assessment and maintenance of trees and vegetation around power lines and service utilities, and there has been a lot of it. Fire prevention puts arboricultural knowledge next to modern fire mitigation strategies, which is worth having on a heavily vegetated block heading into summer. And if your cat is up a tree, we will get that down too.

On the paperwork side we write tree health reports, tree inventories, development reports with tree protection plans, and tree safety reports, and we take on expert witness work where a tree has ended up in dispute. Schools, caravan parks and anyone taking a development through planning are the ones who tend to need that end of things.

Our prices sit on the website where you can read them before you ring anybody. Fresh mulch is $30 a metre with free delivery on the Surf Coast, and a ute-load is 2 metres against 9 for a truck. Stump removal starts at $55 per foot of diameter with a $200 minimum, and anything over 3 feet gets costed on its own. A standard tree health report is from $450 plus $70 a tree, an inventory over 20 trees is usually $650 plus $30 a tree, and a development report with a tree protection plan starts at $800. We are fully licensed and insured, and we will send you a copy of the full cover if you ask for it.
